The seat is the one part of your bike you are in contact with for every mile and the stock one is built to a price not to your body. At Big Wood Customs in Chesapeake VA we fit and build seats that let Hampton Roads riders finish a long day still wanting to ride.
Why Stock Seats Stop Working
Factory foam is chosen to look right in a showroom and to suit a rider of average height and weight. If you are taller shorter heavier or lighter than that average the pressure lands in the wrong places and you feel it around the ninety minute mark.
Numbness and hot spots are not something to ride through. They are the seat telling you it is loading soft tissue instead of the bones that are supposed to carry your weight and no amount of getting used to it fixes that.

Shapes Foams And Gel
A touring seat with a deeper bucket and a wider platform spreads load and stops you sliding forward under braking. A reduced reach shape brings you closer to the bars so you are not stretching for them all day.
Gel inserts and multi density foam do different jobs. Gel takes the sharp edge off road buzz and firmer foam underneath stops you sinking through it. We build the two together rather than selling one as a cure for everything.
Upholstery That Matches The Build
A seat is a big flat surface right in the middle of the bike so it either finishes a build or fights it. We stitch to match your paint your bags and your grips in materials that survive sun and salt air.
Everything is trimmed in house in Chesapeake which means you can sit on the bike while we work rather than shipping it away and hoping. Riders from Virginia Beach Norfolk and Suffolk come to us for exactly that.
